Chef Shirley, Founder & Primary Chef
Cooking has always been more than a skill for Chef Shirley — it is a passion rooted in bringing people together. Based in Winston-Salem, NC, she is known for combining rich, bold flavors with fresh ingredients to create meals that are both comforting and memorable.
Her culinary journey began in the hospitality industry, where she gained extensive hands-on experience working in professional kitchens. Over the years, she progressed from Line Cook to Executive Chef, building a strong foundation in menu development and high-volume preparation.
In 2008, Chef Shirley founded Flava Catering to serve the Piedmont Triad community. Today, she successfully caters 100+ events each year, including weddings, corporate functions, and community gatherings across Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and High Point.
Flava Catering offers full-service staffing, so clients can enjoy their events stress-free. Chef Shirley is especially known for signature dishes such as Lemon Dill Salmon and Beef Tips with Burgundy Wine Sauce — consistent favorites among locals.
Beyond catering, Chef Shirley is committed to serving the local community. She actively participates in outreach efforts supporting the homeless and families in need, using her culinary gift to give back.
